Clocking machine, time clock or NFC base?
A time clock is any fixed device at the workplace where employees record when they start and finish. Ficha.Work's NFC base does that job differently: the "terminal" is each worker's own phone, and the base simply confirms they are on site.

NFC bases FAQ
Is my phone compatible?+
Most smartphones manufactured after 2018 have NFC. iPhones from model 7 and virtually all modern Android phones are compatible.
Does it need electricity or wifi?+
No. The NFC base is passive — it doesn't need electricity or internet. Communication happens through the worker's phone.
Can I have multiple bases?+
Yes. You can install as many bases as you need in different locations. Each one is configured from the manager app.
What if the worker doesn't have the app installed?+
The worker needs the Ficha.Work app installed and logged in. When they tap their phone on the base, the app records the clock-in automatically.
How many bases do I need?+
It depends on your company. Typically you install one base per main access point. A small office usually needs just one base at the entrance. Premises with multiple access points may need one per door.
Is the NFC base a clocking machine?+
It does the same job, a fixed point where staff clock in and out, but it has no screen and needs no power. The clock-in is made by each worker's phone when tapped on the base, and it is recorded instantly in Ficha.Work.
Do I need a wall time clock to comply with Spain's time-registration law?+
No. The law requires recording each worker's daily start and end time and keeping the records for four years, but it does not require a specific device. Staff can clock in from the app; the NFC base adds a fixed clock-in point on site.
Can the base be used as a time clock for several sites?+
Yes. Install one base at each site (office, shop, venue or warehouse) and every clock-in lands in the same dashboard, at no extra cost per site.
Can I require staff to clock in only with the NFC base?+
Yes. In Settings → Clocking → Location choose «Clock in only with NFC base»: clock-in and clock-out are only recorded by tapping the phone on the base, so nobody can clock in from home or anywhere else. Each site needs its own base, and staff clock in from the app, not the browser. You switch it on yourself, at no extra cost.
